I'm a pretty hardcore feminist, AND i really care about social issues.

BUUUUT I kinda get what OP is saying in a way. Sometimes I feel like fandom doesn't even really care about issues like feminism or social justice, they just like looking the best and the most progressive, I've seen people tearing into other people over REALLY minor infractions or misunderstandings. Flooding creators social media over a misunderstood joke or misread sarcasm.

I think there is a way to be a person who cares deeply and still be fun and kind. I think fandom just...isn't always good at it.

Are you me?

This.

It often seems more like point scoring and peer pressure rather than actual humanitarian effort in improving fandom and fandom spaces.

I feel like this about certain people in fandom but it bothers me when people label fandom as a whole that way. It's a pretty diverse group. There's all kinds of people, including some who really care and some who are just trying to look good and some who want the whole conversation to stop and lots of other types as well. I'm not even sure there's a true majority, just a lot of subgroups who want different things and that often clash with each other which makes it look like an issue with two sides.

Not to mention stealing terms from social justice to fuel petty shipping wars.

"MY OTP is flawless, while yours is abusive and unfeminist and erasing women" or "my favorite female is flawless and wonderful, your favorite female character sets feminism back 50 years and is PROBLEMATIC."

Fandom SJ is so shallow. Half the time the words aren't even used right and people are just throwing them around as a word salad they don't understand to sound important.
