Yeah, because it was the finale. It's not like Nick as to worry about them slipping in 'offensive' images of same sex kissing anymore.

People can still get upset they showed it at all. I mean, this isn't the bravest move a company has ever made, but baby steps. This means the next step is that much more likely.

The way it was written, it's easy for angry homophobic parents to just say "oh, they're friends! really good friends! yeah!" to their kids.

I'm impressed with the line they walked. They couldn't do it all at once because it would have fallen apart. And yes, it makes the next step much more likely. :)
