My parents once went to Turkey with my brother when he was very little and a bunch of people touched his hair (he had really golden hair as a child). I'm fairly sure they'd SEEN blond people before, at least on TV, but they still found it utterly fascinating.

That must've been a memorable experience for them! It's really cute that such a simple thing can shock people. I haven't traveled much so I'm sure there's plenty I would be fascinated with, too.
