Breaking Bad. I doubted it could be that good. I was proven so, so, so wrong.

Pushing Daisies. I only recently discovered it but I enjoyed the hell out of it. I'm not one to ask about "good" in a critical standpoint but I think the show is very well done and it was enjoyable.

UK Life on Mars

Leverage. Amazing characters and character arcs, great heists, great competence porn, and it was consistent! Some of the eps were not so good but I hated not a one and a lot of them were STELLAR. 'The Rashomon Job' is my favorite rashomon ep of anything ever.

Remington Steele. Film noir/screwball comedy 80s tv show with great acting, hilarious hijinks, and a good balance of the romance. There are only three seasons shhhhhh.

Scarecrow and Mrs King. My favorite spy show, it has hilarity a-plenty and you felt for the characters and there were some good thrills too. Also Bruce Boxlietner.

Justified and In the Flesh. Well... Okay, In the Flesh is too damn depressing for everyone to be interested in it, but it's still brilliant and I can't recommend it enough.

Oh, and Person of Interest and Leverage. Also Xena.

So many, but I'll say Psych.

The West Wing and Alias. Third would be Stargate SG-1. Of course all of them still suffered a little as seasons ran on. But at their prime, I consider them prime.

Not so much 'great' as 'favourite' but:

Space Opera: Star Trek DS9 (tightly plotted and complex), Babylon 5 (defined story arc) and Blake's 7 (no-punches-pulled dystopia)

Classic Sleuth Adaptations: Granada Holmes, David Suchet's Poirot series

Gothic Victoriana: Penny Dreadful (lurid and charged)

Spy Shows: Callan (British Cold War depression-with-a-capital-P), Man From UNCLE (utter cheese and bromance), Scarecrow and Mrs King (hilarious, adorable and cool)

Westerns: Alias Smith & Jones (most adorable outlaws ever), Wild Wild West (early steampunk spy shenanigans), the Virginian (Lee J. Cobb)

Action Shows: The A-Team (how to use the exact same episode formula for four seasons and have no-one give a damn)

Anime: Mononoke (most gorgeous, eerie, beautiful thing ever), Ghost Hunt (paranormal investigations with style and real scares in places)

Cartoons: 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (dark, cool, tragic, fun), the DCAU (my first real superhero fix, and still among the best)

A lot of my favorites have already been said, but I'll add "Bob's Burgers."

Orphan black.

Breaking Bad. Person of Interest. Hannibal (especially S1, not so much S2 but it's still very good comparatively speaking.)

I know I am being ridiculous here, but I have to go with Last Week Tonight. Yes, I know the left has started to put John Oliver on a pedestal for it, but it's still funny and more genuinely himself. I only thought he was okay on The Daily Show; after watching Last Week Tonight, I feel he kind of got pigeonholed at times. When he has greater control over his material, he's hilarious!

(Note: Everything I said above would still apply even if he hadn't made some key style changes that at least on the show make him look kind of drool-worthy.)

Babylon 5. Yes, it is scifi, but there are so many great characters and so many great messages and themes to the show that I think even non-scifi fans could get into it.

I'll second Better Off Ted.

Michael Mann's cop shows: Miami Vice, which was crazy successful, and Robbery Homicide Division, which was not. Both good examples of how packed you can make a 40-minute plot if you don't bother with B-plot and C-plot.
