yes it is completely canon but it's also completely heartbreaking

seriously I'm going to spoil some shit right here

Basically, in the latest episode, Shaw passionately kisses Root immediately before heroically sacrificing herself by going off to press a button so that the rest of the group can escape from the evil goons. and it's all slowmotion-y and Root is being held back by Harold and Reese, and Shaw gets shot as they escape and it's the most cliched "kiss your love interest before your heroic sacrifice" ever but also, it completely destroyed my mind

Shaw may not be dead. Though we may not find out for sure for a while. The actress is pregnant with twins and the producers wanted to find a way to give her time off while creating as much chaos in universe as possible.

Yes this is true. But I almost can't even process that right now, my mind is too destroyed. and also I actually kind of have always had a secret soft spot for the heroic-sacrifice-doomed-love thing so it's an element that I'm actually kind of not unhappy to play with it in a doomed OTP kind of way.

(also, I made a factual mistake, it's Fusco holding back Root, not John)

Well damn. I heard there was a good ship on this show but now I'm more interested.
