Re: (Non-TMI) cramping
(Anonymous) 2015-01-15 04:23 am (UTC)(link)I use both, depending on the severity (although I think you're not supposed to use both at the same time -- heat makes the stuff in the rubs absorb faster, and the rubs can numb the skin so you can't tell if you're burning/irritating the skin with the heat packs).
I use Deep Heating, which doesn't stain clothes so I can use it any time. It does have that menthol-ey smell though, but usually if you don't use too much it's not bad. Sometimes hot packs are a pest to try and hold in position without causing more tension in the area I'm trying to fix, but they're helpful e.g. when you're trying to sleep. Probably the adhesive heating patches would work too, though they usually don't cover enough area to help much (pretty much my entire upper back/neck/shoulders is a gigantic knotted mess, so... that'd be a lot of patches LOL).
Re: (Non-TMI) cramping
Luckily, my posture is pretty good, and I work out a couple times a week which helps me stretch everything out. I tend to be pretty okay, which is why those random muscle spasms were so strange.
