Yeah, people focus so hard on getting UP the damn mountain, they seem to forget the whole GETTING DOWN part. Obviously, I have not done any big mountains, we're talking little baby probably-don't-even-count-as-mountains that you can hike up and down in a few hours on your own, but still, getting down was actually RISKIER for me than getting up; it was so much easier to slip and fall when my momentum was already following gravity.

It's like people get this idea into their head that they can't hike just ANY mountain, it has to be the BIGGEST and BADDEST mountain because... I don't know. If it were the SECOND biggest and baddest mountain, or the fifth, or the two-hundred-and-seventeenth, it just wouldn't count.

Seriously, give me my little baby hill mountains any time. Just as gorgeous a view, can do it alone, bring a picnic lunch and then stagger on down in time for dinner.
