No just being able to quote things doesn't make you a movie buff. You said it yourself - some people have a brain that just doesn't work that way.

The only thing being able to quote a lot of my favourite films does for me is that my husband can say something and I'll immediately be able to pull out the relevant quote or reference he was meaning. Or we'll do that the other way around too. So to me it's just a way to have in-jokes with my husband.

As long as we could have a conversation about what we love/hate/feel indifferent about then I'd consider you a fan of any particular film we're discussing. I don't need you to prove anything by parroting the entire dialogue at me!
