Always Armitage. Always.

I once was talking with a work(ish) friend about celebrity crushes and I brought up Richard Armitage. They didn't know who he was at first, so I pull up google images on my phone.

Their response? "Oh he looks like [insert name of my last crush]."

I was just like fffffffffff-

Haha, I'm curious as to who their last crush was! I can't imagine many guys look like Richard. (Was it someone they knew IRL? They should've been all over that.)

Oh sorry. Pronoun confusion. They said he looked rather like my last crush. As in Othellia's last crush, to use both third person and my screenname to refer to myself.

It was a kind of a not!secret around the work place since I made my intentions kind of known, worked up my courage, asked him out a lunch date, and got rejected (kindly) about a week later. (He's from out-of-state and was only there with his team for three months, so I knew I had a fool's chance going in but then I listened to Defying Gravity and Let It Go a bunch of times and then went for it anyway.)

But yeah, she said that. And then I thought about it. And then I could see the resemblance. And I was like ffffffff- because that only made him more attractive in my eyes and he was already gone by that point.

That was November, so I'm still slowly getting over it. But I only think of him when something briefly triggers it, so I'm taking that as a good sign. :|

Haha, sorry about that! I had a feeling I had understood that wrong, so I'm not surprised.

That really, really sucks. I'm sorry it didn't work out. It's been a long time, but I've been there. It's kind of a good thing he doesn't work at your office regularly because having him there every day would be a crap reminder.

I hope this experience hasn't made your love for Armitage too awkward or painful. :(

It was kind of a good thing, but also maybe a bad thing? Because he cited the temp situation and ultimate long distance as the reason, or at least one of the reasons, he was not interested. Who knows, maybe he plain wasn't interested and used the distance as an easy excuse, or maybe it was a combination of things. At that point I kind of had been reading signals, but there'd been a couple that'd been mixed, so I figured I'd tell him and know for sure.

And it did help. And because of it I ultimately have no regrets.

So I continue to fawn over Richard Armitage and hope that the next guy I fall for will both share his hotness and be equally interested in me. :]

(Obviously not implying I actively go hunting for Richard Armitage clones. But I will not ignore them should I encounter one again.)

Awww. :( It must've been bittersweet to hear that and think that one of the reasons he declined was distance. (Which is an understandable reason, but still sucks.) It's probably better than you didn't go out a few times before he left and THEN have him decide he couldn't do a long distance relationship, though. I hope you have better luck next time.

But I will not ignore them should I encounter one again.

Pfft, I would question your sanity if you did. (JK, JK, but...you know.)

Yeah, he seemed happy when I'd initially asked him if he wanted to grab lunch with me sometime. He wasn't shocked as though my ask had come completely from left field and his face was positive and he accepted. So a part of me thinks that if he'd been 100% disinterested, he would have made some excuse about being busy and not even bothered with the lunch date.

And I think that's what threw me in the end, because we did go on the lunch date, and we talked for an hour straight with no gaps in the conversation whatsoever... and then he just didn't talk to me afterwards. So... yeah. Mixed signals.

I mean, it ultimately doesn't matter now and who knows his true feelings, but for my own personal ego's sake, I'm going to take your sentence and make myself a head canon that he was somewhat interested but then decided at the last minute he couldn't do the long distance thing and that I'm totally fabulous and the whole nine yards.

ETA: Thanks for listening to my emotional ramblings, btw. <3

Oh man, I didn't realize you had actually went out on a lunch date with him... That's way worse than just be turned down outright, at least to me. It sounds like he must've been interested though, because there are plenty of ways to back out of plans like that, and if you had a good conversation and nice chemistry he might've just decided that getting close was fruitless and going to cause both of you pain. :/ Maybe things would've turned out differently had he lived closer, but what if's can drive you mad.

I don't know you all that well but you seem like a swell person and you obviously have great taste, so have hope! Maybe another hot, vaguely Armitage looking dude is in your future.

Aww, thank you! <3

And I hope hot, vaguely Armitage looking dudes are in both of our futures.
