Re: Fandom Annoyances
(Anonymous) 2015-01-17 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)I had trouble with the third film, a lot stemming from too long battle scenes. I get very distracted. I had the same problem with Return of the King.
I really liked Thranduil+Bard interaction, it seemed very natural to me and also very equal, and like they genuinely liked each other. I totally see why so many people came to the ship after the movie.
I disliked Legolas' mother's death mainly because they made it a plot point. From the second movie I had gathered that there was some tension between Legolas and Thranduil and the conflict was mainly between those two. Then in the third movie we are suddenly introduced to "Legolas had issues with his mother" and I had literally no clue where that came from. I was disappointed that Thranduil's and Legolas' only real conversation was about Legolas' mom who we never saw and Aragorn (yes PJ I know you made LOTR, no need to reference it all the time). I didn't mind Legolas-Thranduil conflict IF it had been actually resolved.
I do adore Bard and his young ones, and I really liked how clearly it was shown in the third movie how much Bard cares for them. Really I just adore Bard.
Thranduil marching an army into Dale before any peace-talk was even attempted did strike me as bit odd, but I guess that was the only way to get his army to be present. And well he did let Bard try diplomacy, so I guess that's something.
Acting was great from Evans and Pace and lots of others. I didn't like it as much as the other two, it could have used some more quiet moments and all the battling was exhausting to watch.
