Re: Foods You thought you hated that you don't

When I dislike foods, it's usually more to do with texture and/or colour than with taste, so if they're prepared in a different way/form I can bypass the dislike easily enough. There are some things where the disgust stuck: I've never, ever liked white sauces (this one is psychosomatic, I think, I read a story where a guy at a fish market sneezed and 'prematurely covered some catch in tartar sauce' and now anything thick, gooey and white/pale/greenish coloured makes me nauseous), and I still draw the line at Brussel sprouts veg-wise.

The one thing I can think of that I really disdained as a kid and now really enjoy is melon. I thought it was the blandest bunch of cardboard as a kid, and now it's one of my favourite fruits because it's so light and refreshing.
