Yup. They wanted Sarah as a dom, so I wrote her as steel hand, velvet glove kinda person, using her immense knowledge of fairy tales and myth to manipulate the environment around her. It ended up pretty popular (by my fic standard, anyway), but there is no way I would've written Labyrinth fic for free. I'm not a big fan of the movie, and have only seen it a couple times.

I didn't see the whole movie, i.e. I was doing something else while watching but I still love it because of a few scences. And a cultural fandom significance, I guess.

Yeah, I didn't see the movie till I was an adult, so I think I mostly missed the developmental stage most people enjoy it at. The puppetry and art design is gorgeous, but I'm not really interested in the story.

I missed the same Labyrinth window of opportunity. Without those happy memories, it just seems like a really creepy guy taking advantage of a girl in his power.

Yeah. Someone once explained to me that Labyrinth is basically intended to be Sarah's self-insert fanfiction of herself, her creating her magical story for her to be the heroine in, and it became much more clear to me the appeal.

I just missed the nostalgia window.
