Missing the Point? Misaimed Fandom

What the subject line says: What do you think / feel about ******** that you know is not the intended purpose?

For me, I still think that in spite of all his flaws, I think Christine should have chosen the interesting but psychotic Phantom over the boring nothing Raoul.

I think that would have been interesting, but it would have had to been written differently for me. In the sense that, for that to work for me, Christine would have had to change a bit, become a bit more twisted herself, and be less of a victim.

I would never, ever want to be around him, but I actually like Rorschach from Watchmen and have in very, very narrow circumstances used him as a role model. (Mainly, trying to have that determination to pursue my goals despite really shitty life circumstances. I would never, EVER want to be like Rorschach in any way other than that.)

Alan Moore, I know, HATES that.

I think she should have stabbed him while his back was turned. Finished the fuck off when she had the chance.

NAYRT-- I've been a hardcore Erik/Christine shipper for almost 2 decades, but I wrote this years ago and never posted it anywhere because parts of the phandom would have ripped me a new one. No stabbing, but here you go.

She had never imagined this. She’d never thought of a place, a time, a horror that would make it necessary. Not even while she was doing it. Which was good, in a way . . . that she hadn’t had time to doubt her ability, her ability to . . . kill.

There. She’d thought it.

She stared at the masked corpse, face turned from her now, dark crimson stain from the shattering head wound, dealt with the punt-pole that she still loosely gripped in both hands. Whoever her masked abductor had been, however beautiful his voice, he had clearly lied to her. Angels didn’t drug people and bear them on horseback into dark dank flooded basements full of rats and the smell of mold. And they certainly couldn’t be killed with blunt instruments.

He had fallen near the edge of the small stone pier; grimacing, she levered the cadaverously thin body into the murky water, where it floated, bumping into the small boat. She tossed the pole in after. Even if someone found him, they would never connect frail little soubrette soprano Christine Daaé with his death.

If that's how you felt, you might like a certain book called 50 Shades of Grey.

I was really happy when Leah chewed out Bella in the Twilight books, even if we never actually get to read it happening. Yeah yeah, Twilight has a lot of misaimed fan fanfavourites, but LEAH was the best of them all even though I'm supposed to hate her for being an angry woman in that series.

Leah was the bomb. I was legitimately upset when Jacob starting bitching at her for yelling at Bella even though Leah was trying to defend him. Fuck you too, dude. It was kind of funny how Meyer kept writing Leah as the voice of reason without even realizing it.
