I wish Jackson hadn't tried to make the Hobbit into something like Lord of the Rings. It's a different type of story, he should have respected that. If he wanted more adventure and grand battles there is a shit ton in the Silmarillion and appendixs he could have played with.

Yes, me too. It's got such a different tone to it. I loved the animated Hobbit, and that seemed to suit the book more, what they did there.

He can't touch anything Silmarillion related, though. He doesn't own the rights to it, and the Tolkien estate was adamant about not using the material.
