Eh I think it might be a cultural thing, especially in America. I mean aren't American kids told "you're perfect just the way you are" and given participation stickers and shit? I've heard all sorts of stuff about schools where they don't even want to fail students because they'll "feel bad".

I had to be stereotypical, but a lot of Asian parents are very critical of their kids, and I think as a result their children can take criticism better. White kids are so damn sensitive.
