Nothing wrong with getting it off your chest, but if you're posting it to fandomsecrets expecting words of comfort, you're delusional.
No one in their right mind could confuse fandomsecrets with a support group.

Like I said, nothing wrong with getting it off your chest (or blurting it out).
But if you're going to get upset because your pairing secret turns into a wankfest, this isn't the place to unload.

I do agree that fandomsecrets isn't a support group and that we are free to openly disagree with each other. BUT, that having been said, I think the point the OP wanted to address is that so many responses here are pointlessly wanky when the secret in question didn't call for it.

For example, now and then I'll see a secret about, "I don't like this character. That's just my opinion and I realize this." And people go "BWWAAAA" or "cry moar" and I have to wonder why they think "cry moar" will suddenly help "convert" the secret maker to agree with their point of view. Gee, you "BWWWA"ed at me! Now I totally see the light! /sarcasm

Yes, people need to word things correctly in their secrets, cover their bases and such. But the responders have an equal responsibility to act reasonably. There's a difference between "BWWAAA" and "I disagree with this and here's why."

...no. there IS no RESPONSIBILITY in this comm to act in any way. it's a secrets comm. if you post a secret, you risk getting ridiculed. just the way it is.

See, this is the kind of wanky behavior I just don't understand. It's wanky and pointless. No, there's no rule out there that states "don't be an asshat." But that doesn't mean you SHOULD be an asshat just because you can.

Clearly it's not a support group, but the wank I notices is people laughing up their sleeves at people who actually get worked up about or just feel strongly about a certain thing they post.

That's just dickish.

This place is called Fandom Secrets. It stands to reason that it should at least be a haven for people of the Fan persuasion. I'll agree to being mocked for just about everything else, but it seems a bit off to be mocked for feeling strongly about *insert fictional show/book/whatever of your choice.*

All this thread proves is that people who write that BAWWW and CRY MOAR shit are the types that only have the balls to be complete cocks on the internet when they have 10 people at their back who agree with them. In this "reality" you talk of, most people will act with some semblence of civility towards an opinion they disagree with. But the internet has that fantastic way of bringing out the inconsiderate, selfish, attention seeking "fuckwad" within.

...and no I'm not the OP I just completely agree with them. The internet is just a breeding ground for intolerance, bullying and abuse. The amazing thing is that 99% of it comes from people who wouldn't even THINK of acting that way IRL.
