I think you should watch Princess Tutu, since it's pretty much the best anime ever as far as I'm concerned and also happens to be a magical girl series.

Seconded. Princess Tutu is my favorite anime ever--great magical girl anime that DOESN'T fall into cliches, it turns cliches on its head. Not to mention the deep characters, superb use of classical music, beautiful animation...anyone that's a magical girl fan and hasn't seen the show yet is totally missing out (particularly when ADV's selling the boxset for dirt cheap with all of the great extras included).

I swear I'm not an ADV employee, just a rabid fangirl. >>;;
