Seems to me that you're the only person offended by the 'lack of nonwhites' in videogames.

I'm really not. Videogames aren't a serious aspect of culture to me (and that is me, no one else), so I tend to focus on the prejudices in other media instead.

But if it's any consolation to you, I don't plan on presenting my opinion on this again since it was met with such hostility and unpopularity. :shrugs:

see, if you weren't anon, you'd count. But if you aren't going to stand the fuck up for what you believe in, then who the fuck are you to say anything? Honestly, if 'not having a black dude' = rascism, then alot of things are rascist. ALOT.

And yes, a lot of things are racist. That doesn't make them any less enjoyable, but they are excluding a significant portion of the population. There is still an institutionalized stigma against nonwhites (or in the case of Japan, non-japanese), whether it's admitted to or not.

There is that stigma, but just because someone doesn't automatically go "OMG THERE SHOULD BE A BLACK GUY HERE OR ITLL BE RACIST" doesn't make something rascist. Seriously, not everything needs to be 100% PC forlief.

I'm not saying all white casts are equivalent to the KKK, but they do contribute to the marginalization of POCs. It's not malicious, but it's still racist.

Anyway, this is a complicated argument that I don't really want to get into, so I hope you're okay with stopping here.

Also, Half-Life is A+++, so good on you for having taste.

The only problem I really have with that argument is that it invites alot of people to call things out on being rascist when they are inherantly NOT, although there are social stigmas which are existant in such things, 'rascist' is a charged word, and should not be used for thing such as this, but I'll leave it at that.

No, see, that comparison is flawed. I'm an atheist, but I'm pretty sure Jesus believed that by dying on the cross, he was doing a good thing at the end of the day. I'm saying I regret raising the topic because I'm just naturally non-confrontational and don't like online debates. I don't think my stating my own private opinion did anyone any good, especially since I'm apparently not allowed to think the way I do unless I want to write up a three-page dissection of the topic.

The way I think can't be explained in a few lines of comment space. I'm an idealist and have strong views about how the entire world should operate. This topic, funnily enough, falls into one of my views. That I don't really feel like spending a few hours explaining my views to people on the internet whom I have never seen before and will probably never see again- that's not a crime. Also, please don't take it as a slight against you. It's not meant to be. I just know to pick my battles and I know this is not a conversation I'd walk away from with any sense of accomplishment.
