Sadly I don't have access to a whole lot of games down here in southamerica, but I've played enough horror ones to know what you mean. D: A lot of good games get bad reviews for stupid reasons, or the players/reviewers miss the point. Also people pass up good games like the Clock Tower series easily (first survival horror games evar) ;_;

Whereas a lot of games that I've heard are "the best thing ever on the genre" have disappointed me greatly. Silent Hill 4 wut wut. RESIDENT EVIL > ALL (IMO)

Clock Tower's a good series? I've never played that one actuallyyyy, mostly because it didn't look too frightening to me, but then again, it looked a lot like Haunting Ground so I'd probably like it.

Aww, you don't like Silent Hill? SH being the best thing in the genre is something I'd definitely agree with. Gorgeously well-done horror yo. And SH4 is my favorite as it so happens ahaaa. But that's okay. Silent Hill, Resident Evil and Fatal Frame are my triple threat of favorites.

Nah, Clock Tower isn't any frightening, even gets a bit silly, but being the first game in its genre, it's not bad at all. Maybe it's just me being nostalgic like "aww, so this is how the survival horror idea started". xD

Friends have recommended me the first SH games over the 4th, so I'll give that a try. SH4 just didn't inspire any sort of reaction in me, at all, so I didn't enjoy it. :< (Like a really attractive partner giving unsatisfying sex lololololololololol :D) I'll give it another chance, though.

Maybe it'll go like Fatal Frame - at first it was sort of uninteresting to me, nothin' special, but as the story went on... woaaahhhh.

XD Ah, actually, the first one with the axe murderer dude looked pretty interesting to me. Then I saw cutscenes from this other one with some Dynasty Warriors-esque ghost lady flying around and that kinda liquefied my interest. It's definitely a classic series, though.

Ah, that's it. SH4's the black sheep of the current games, most people hate it. I loved it, but it's very different from the other games. I'd recommend 2 to ya, everyone loves that one. I'd avoid spoilers for it if you could, though. 3's the scariest and most well-designed as far as horror goes IMO, but I'm not sure how much sense it'll make without good knowledge of 1... 1 and 3 are also the most confusing.
