Honestly, Armitage's casting is making me get the fandom before. Because I never quite got being attracted to a serial killer before. Except that I think Armitage is one of those people who I'll always be attracted to regardless. Although, it will be more of attracted to in spite of being a serial killer rather than the because of that I think is true for a sizeable chunk of the fandom.

Same. I'm sure I'll be lured in by the looks even if I'm disgusted by everything else. (Unless this goes the way of Nogitsune!Stiles and I become inexplicably attracted to the evil. I'm thinking that would be much harder to do here, though. Hopefully.)

Who's concerned? Are they worried about Armitage's tinhats or something? Fannibal craziness is mostly character-based, I find, wacky interpretations and that sort of thing. If anyone's obsessing over the actors' personal lives, they're doing it in closed communities, thank god.

Fuck off, Mads' diehards never purposefully snitched on a fan they were jealous of who had the opportunity to meet him at a convention in order to get her tickets revoked, unlike a certain RA fan I know of.

I have more than enough reason to want them far, FAR away from this fandom.

I'd have to go hunting for those deets, but it boiled down to-

Fan A gets invited to interview RA and shares with the community. Fan B gets green in the gills and falsified info to the convention staff, twisting Fan A's image into one of stalker-like obsession, and succeeds in Fan A's tickets being revoked.

A lot of the blame was put on the convention for jumping at the gun on someone's bullshit hearsay, but if Fan B wasn't so envious in the first place it wouldn't have happened.

Did I miss something? The Hannibal fandom is, from what I've seen, utterly hilarious and not at all crazy. I've mostly seen dumb jokes and happily shipping their creepyship, but none of the aggressive horribleness most big fandoms display.

Yeah, those are pretty much my experiences, too. But I often miss the drama, so there's that.

I'm not in the fandom, but I've never heard anything creepy about Hannibal fandom either. They seem to be a very cheerful lot. Then again, I haven't heard much really bad about The Hobbit fandom, either, not compared to Lord of the Rings which was truly batshit.

We're very happy, and traumatized, and happy in our trauma. There are a few aggressive weirdos here and there, but it's the funniest fandom I've ever been in.

Yeah, the worst I've seen is some repetitive jokes and (mostly) self-aware flanderization. There's not really a section/group of fans that fixate on the actors like with RA or a lot of other fandoms, maybe because the leads aren't as "flashy"/well-known (for lack of a better word)? Mads Mikkelsen gets a bit of it, but nothing on the level of, like, SPN.

Well, there were some angry fits thrown over a certain character's death and the treatment of a lesbian character which did result in attacking TPTB on Twitter, but overall, yeah, I'd agree that Hannibal has nice enough fandom.

Yep, I saw that too, especially the character death and how a lot of loud fans were screaming about quitting the fandom and show because of it.
