Marvel Secret Wars

So I don't really read Marvel because there was never any reason to after the movies came out, but I hear they're throwing just about everything out and smashing the remainder into a singular universe.

(Anyone else think that sounds familiar?)

For what it's worth, I'm wit' it, especially if they're bringing it more in line with the (better written and more interesting) movie 'verse. I've long been a Marvel hater for a lot of reasons, but if this is the semi-clean slate it's promising to be I'm ready to get my feet wet finally.

And from what they've been doing to Spider-Man, I assume they'll be killing off a gazillion characters whose universes they have no use for anymore. I can't say I'm a fan. If their stories ended happily, leave them to the Tethercat Principle, happy indefinitely so long as we don't know what they're doing.

For what it's worth as long as every single instance of Peter Parker dies and stays dead I'll read every Spiderman issue they put out. Miles Morales, Otto Octavius, fuck it JOSEF MENGELE, I don't care, anybody but Peter Fucking parker.

I dunno, on one hand it could streamline thing, but on the other: it could make things so so much worse. Also, I sort of like the divide between comics and movies. Some characters are a bit different in different media and that's okay. But we'll see. I'm only reading one title now anyway. Which reminds me, I need to go to the comic book shop.

I've been waiting for a while for Marvel to finally rip off DC's universe-destroying-crisis!! reboot ideas, because they're less stupid than Satanic Divorces. It could turn out horribly (Marvel isn't very good at major events, not since the early 80s anyway) but I'm expecting a result similar to New 52 -- very rough beginning that ultimately makes up for itself by getting awesome after a year or so.

I'm with Kallanda on liking that the MCU and comics are very different from each other, but I will grant that the comics universe is so fucking messy and bloated. Idk, I'm wary because I wasn't fond of the DC reboot but I know they've started to find their footing again, but I'm not going to cast any stones until I see what happens.

Mostly I just hope they keep Miles as Spiderman(I may like Peter but Miles is really cool, pls don't kill him off Marvel).

Yeah, I'm definitely not expecting a smooth transition.

Oh man it's going to be so fucking bumpy and I'm going to laugh while staring in horror at everything that gets caught in the mess.

I AM COMPLETELY THE OPPOSITE WAY.

Marvel has screwed up a lot (Civil War and Brand New Day were bad ideas) but this seems like more screwing up, not like fixing things. I may be proven wrong; we shall see.

What a drag. I think the movies suck.

Feel bad for saying it, but kind of interested in seeing how much of a hot mess this will end up being. *lost faith in the Big Two years and years ago*
