Free Range Eggs

(Anonymous) 2015-01-23 06:16 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, does anybody know where one could find resources on local cruelty free dairy and egg producers? I'd like to shop local and reduce my cost of free range eggs by shopping local but I don't know where or how to start.

I can only suggest searching online in your local area. There are winter farmer's markets, do you have any in your area going on? Any local food stores (not chain) that you can ask a manager about?

Where do you live? Local markets are good if you're in the city. Just google your location and farmers market.

I can help with the eggs! I was trying to learn about this recently too. Here's a good couple sites!

Another site to try

for finding farmers' markets, CSA's (Community-Supported Agriculture organizations) and the like in your locality

Good luck!

Seconding this site:

http://www.localharvest.org/

You can search by your area for small farms or farmers markets, though at this time of year you're less likely to find eggs locally. Maybe try again in spring and check craigslist too. It sounds weird, but some people keep chickens and sell the eggs on CL for relatively cheap.

Thank you, guys!
