Honestly, I think it's one of those things that is endemic to ANY media starting to break into representation. Because there's so little of it, people will go bazonkers analyzing it, because it can't just be representation, it must be PERFECT representation otherwise it's worthless.

It happens every time, and it continues happening until there's enough representation on the ground that people don't have to care anymore.

I get why it happens, but I do find it immensely tedious. I had some of it happen when I first started making my comics, other people basically wanting me to write THEIR stories, rather than my own. At least once, I got a bit fed up and told them that they could make their own damn comics, then.
