He has a banter with Dorian in which he goes a little...too far with a rape fantasy, and then he and Dorian hook up when Dorian is drunk. I find the first point to be gross, but not problematic at all and not an indicator that he is a rapist. The second is only an issue if Dorian was the only one drinking which I sincerely doubt.

The first one happens when he thinks Dorian is flirting with him, though. He genuinely thinks it's mutual flirting, and when he realizes it isn't, he gets upset and embarrassed.

Which is what I've heard too, and it sounds rather misinterpreted/ taken out of context.

(Plus, whoever said above that BW gets hammered for trying for diversity was spot on, imo. They might not always do characters that I like, but I very much appreciate that they're trying for a diverse cast instead of everyone being white-bread bland and tailored to "offend" no one.)

The funny thing is: I honestly think they tried very hard not to offend anyone (the whole safeword/consent discussion, being able to ask the trans NPC all kinds of deep and thoughtful questions about it, having a whole character mission revolve around "my parents don't accept my sexuality" etc.) and it STILL backfired.

But that reminds me of the cartoon someone from a newspaper drew - blank space and the title "Enjoy you completely unoffensive, politically correct cartoon" and as soon as it found its way on tumblr, people managed to get offended at a blank space. That's pretty much tumblr in a nutshell.
