Well, heads up, I wouldn't even call DA:I the best DA game, but it DOES have one of the best casts in a BioWare game (IMHO) and I do think the characters are well written and BioWare does a good job of dealing with some sensitive topics.

But like I've said, you can't please everyone.

I adore RPG's, but sometimes I wish I could skip combat too. Especially in DA:I because the open world nature of the game all but forces you to fight. IDK how many times I've been running along, thinking about fast traveling and BAM, a couple bears, a pack of wolves or some assassins come from nowhere. If you're out of potions and low on health you pretty much have to just make a run for it (or stop and fight) and hope for the best, lol.

That said, there are plenty of objects to collect, and you CAN jump (and fade step), so...there's that.

Yeah, in my case, the gameplay of RPGs just tends not to be my thing. I like puzzles and platforming, and I LOATHE combat. Random encounters are the WORST. Plus I'm really bad at things like weapon, armor, and party management.

Also, I don't own the correct consoles, and probably never will. I own DA:O but didn't get far, just because I didn't have the console and the combat turned me off.

I can't even watch Let's Plays, because the games are so big and with so many different paths! I'm byte-blocked!

Hey man, I don't blame you. I love combat, but past a certain point (especially with RPG's) it can get very tedious. Some games have equipment that can turn off random encounters, but not many, IIRC. (I THINK Xenosaga did?) It really depends on the game for me, but I tend to actually like customizing weapons and armor, and quite liked DA:O's system because of the amount of control it gave me, but again...it's a lot of work and can get old. Especially since these games tend to be over 60, 80 (even 100) hours.

(You said you like puzzles and platforming...have you tried Portal? I know, most everyone has heard of Portal by now, this is probably a dumb question.)

The Let's Play thing is killer. I know, I wanted to watch Let's Plays of some of Mass Effect's DLC because I couldn't download it, but I couldn't watch much of it... There's just too much personalization with these games, not being able to make your own decisions defeats the pupose for me. It's good for those who want to experience it themselves, but if you aren't able to play then it makes things difficult and frankly, boring.

I have played Portal! Unfortunately, my ability to rotate 3D shapes in my head is ABYSMAL (yes, I know, artist with terrible spatial intelligence, go figure) so I was really bad at it! I like Loved a lot, and I REALLY enjoyed Thomas Was Alone though. That pretty much fulfilled ALL my flea-jumping fantasies, PLUS pushed my happy robot story buttons too.

It's why I like watching people play horror games, honestly; those games tend to have more running and screaming than fighting.

Hmm . . . I wonder if you'd like Full Bore. No jumping, but it's got lots of exploring and item-hunting, plus some really satisfying tunneling. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ej7bjZrDig

(Fair warning: the trailer only hints it at the end, but it's actually something of a horror game--just a really sneaky one that keeps its scares in moderation. You will be freaked out at some points.)

Oh wow, that actually looks like EXACTLY what I'd be interested in! (Much as I love magic flea-jumping powers, this game looks like there's enough navigating the environment and exploring to scratch the same itch.)

Is it available somewhere off Steam? I don't have it and probably won't till I get my new Frankencomputer this spring. This game looks really cool though!

A quick search came up with http://www.wholehog-games.com/fullbore/#preorder

(I'm not sure why it says "preorder" when it's already out.)

THANK YOU. I am keeping this in mind for later. Maybe it can be a present to myself when I move. Because this game looks like buckets of fun, and exactly the type I like!
