8 Yeah, that's pretty much me. I've only ever dated men, but I only get off to lesbian porn (usually anime) and fantasies about female characters.

Other women online tell me that's totally normal and doesn't mean I'm not straight. (And probably not because that's what I want to hear, because to be honest it isn't actually what I want to hear.)

Uh. Actually, that tends to mean you're NOT entirely straight. It's totally normal to get off to female fantasies, but not for a 100% straight woman.

For what it's worth, very few people are entirely one way or another.

Oh, what the heck, I'm the anonymous above (not the OP of #8) and too lazy to log back out...

It would seem obvious to me that that makes me not straight, but I always get people telling me the opposite, so sometimes I just don't know what to think.

Then again, I suppose I don't need to have a 100% well-defined identity and all that, and I guess I'm not going to sink into confusion about my sexuality at my age.

The question would be if I actually dated a woman, which might actually be pretty cool, but I'm not expecting fandom to solve that one for me... XD

I just talk about it too much.

You are allowed to pick your own sexual identity. There are plenty of "straight" identified men and women who have been attracted to (or dated) members of their own sex. There are people who are "gay" identified who have been attracted to (or dated) members of the opposite sex. There a bisexuals.

Be whatever is comfortable.

No problem. I've gone through the whole problem myself, but in the opposite direction (gay but dating a girl) and just decided that I was getting too fussed over social categories that assume absolutes where they don't always exist.

I think it's just the societal heteronormativity re: people telling you gay fantasties still make one heterosexual.

There isn't a lot to be confused about, as long as the thought of being less-than-completely-straight doesn't bother you. The general consensus seems to be that bisexuality is the norm more than anything :)

Ha, fandom is a bad place for most advice 8D
