I'm surprised tumblr is surprised they cast someone who is supposed to be a younger Halle Berry.

They cast teenage Storm, Jean, and Cyclops for the new X-Men series. The girl cast as Storm is Bi-racial/Lightskinned like Halle Berry. Tumblr thinks she isn't 'black enough' for the role. Granted, comic Storm is much darker...but the movie Storm is played by Halle Berry, so it wasn't that shocking they didn't cast someone darker.

Actually, comics storm is has been depicted as multi-racial (though after the ntenth retcon and the fact her looks tends to vary more then most depending on artist who even knows).

Considering that Halle Berry's performance as Storm is consistently TERRIBLE, I'd think they'd want to get further away from that...

I think it's funny Tumblr hasn't caught on to the trope of 'But Not Too Black'.

Not that I think it's acceptable, but this is not the first time nor will it be the last time this happens.

Heh. I liked the casting, since she seems to have bit of an "Asian" (for lack of a better word) look to her eyes, like the original comic version of Storm has.

I think it's funny, because the original comics-Storm was biracial, wasn't she? So people acting like she was this super dark-skinned "pure" African is a little hilarious to me.

I don't think so. Her dad was from the US and her mom from Africa, but as far as I remember, they were both black. I could be wrong, in case there has been some inevitable retcon.

I am always surprised that SJW can call someone ''not black enough'' and not see how horrendously racist it sounds.

They are what they claim to hate.

I kind of want to put this on a bumper sticker. On the other hand, I've already replaced two windows in my car thanks to a vengeful former tenant wreaking havoc in my condo building's garage.

Not just teenage white girls trying to score points. Black people do it too -- see the 2008 election.

Irony isn't their strong point. No, seriously. It's not.

Ugh, I was thinking the same thing.

Racist by attempting to be less racist than everyone else.

I just find all of the three so deeply unattractive and young. I hope the makeup artist/costume department are really on top of things, because I don't want to look at them as they are in the sample pictures. Especially the one chosen to play Jean Gray.

I think Sophie Turner is gorgeous. Different tastes, though.

tbh Sophie Turner's looks and acting cred are the least of my worries

The writers can't write Jean or Scott for shit and I am deeply perplexed as to why they brought those characters back in the first place for DoFP.

I have no idea who any of these people are (well, I do know OF the GOT actress, but just barely) but wow is the young Storm gorgeous. /that's all I've got

I hope they all fit their roles? They certainly look young, but I suppose they're supposed to.

I'm surprised anyone is surprised that the live-action X-Men continues to disappoint. Nothing against any of the new actors, new Storm is a babe, but I expect as much from them as I got from the rest of the franchise since the first movie.

The title of this thread makes me think of a weather wizard who makes thunder and lightning whenever he masturbates.
