Re: Everything you wanted to know about DID/multi, but were afraid to ask.

Do you know the show United States of Tara? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_of_Tara

It's about a mother with DID, and I'm wondering how accurate it is, especially with the other alters (like Bryce) emerging in later seasons.

I just read on your page that you find the word alter offensive. I'm sorry about that, I didn't think about using it as that's the word the show uses!

It's okay! We made the rude questions page specifically because we can't expect most people to know we don't care for the 'alter' term. So don't feel bad; long as you don't do it again, we're cool. I generally have a standing rule that you're allowed a few mistakes on a 101 thread.

*wince* Yes, I know of it. We have never watched it, and probably never would, because though I know little of it, I'm willing to bet it'll just make me angry. I'm kinda at the point that every time someone says, "Hey, have you read/seen this thing about someone with DID?" I just quail inside and go, "oh god no."

I've heard conflicting things about it. A couple of our multi friends liked it, but most were lukewarm or didn't like it.

We've watched it. It's blacklisted from our system. Absolutely terrible. We can't get much more into it then that for trigger reasons, it's that bad

Good to know. Thanks for the head's up!
