[Great British Bake Off]

Sometimes the Brits have it better and there's no shame in admitting that.

After all, sometimes the Americans have it better. For example, American Chris Evans is clearly better than British Chris Evans.

So very true.

top notch secret. I just started watching her cooking show the other day and she became my instant favorite. I wish she was my granny to be honest haha.

She's freaking adorable. Her life story's pretty interesting too-- she was a girl during WWII, so she remembers blackouts and bombing raids, and she survived polio, trained at the Cordon Bleu in Paris, and was a full time working mother well before that was the done thing.

Oh my goodness I don't even know who she is but she's adorable. I want to sip tea in a garden with her while discussing the finer points of baking.

Does anyone know what kind of dessert this is? It looks good.

/asks the hard-hitting questions

It actually looks like a pizza to me.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-27 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
It could, of course, be a dessert pizza (like this one - http://laurassweetspot.com/2012/06/25/fruit-pizza/ or this one - http://www.wellplated.com/peanut-butter-smores-pizza/). Or a tart (like this one - http://www.butterbaking.com/2015/01/08/apricot-and-almond-tart/) or galette (like this one - http://leelalicious.com/peaches-and-cream-galette/) of some sort.

We do not have "dessert pizza" in England [not unless ASDA has imported it]. What a disgusting concept, really. Please keep that one.

Because no one ever makes dishes from other countries?

And really what's so disgusting about a big cookie with cream chees frosting and garnished with fruit? Or a dough topped with sweet sauce and garnished with sweet things and nuts (because that describes, like, half the desserts that, you know, exist)?

Is it because it's called pizza? There aren't any traditional pizza toppings on them, so dessert pizza tends to be like any other dessert.

Bless you nonny. Bless you. (I just got through eating breakfast, but now I'm hungry again.)

I think you're right, it could easily be a dessert pizza or tart. These all look really good though I admit I'm partial to the peanut butter one, and the peach tart is one of the prettiest pieces of food I've ever seen. If I had baked that I'd almost not want to eat it... It's so perfect and picturesque.

I'm going to bookmark these blogs! I don't really bake much, but maybe these will inspire me. If nothing else, they're great to look at.

You are very welcome.

If you want to get lost for hours, go here - http://foodgawker.com/. Pretty pictures of food with short descriptions of the dishes so that if you like it, you can click on the picture and it will lead you to the recipe on someone's food blog. I am partial to the desserts (http://foodgawker.com/post/category/dessert/) myself, but it has some other interesting categories as well.

Crap, just when I got around to looking at this site (And was about to put dinner on) my electricity went off. (I'm on my cell, lol.)

I'll look at this more later when I'm not grumpy and hungry, but from the front page I can tell the recipes on this site are something else. I already see about three, four different things I'd like to try!

Thanks for linking, anon! <3

No problem.
