Nothing wrong with that. Queen was a great band, but the people who put Queen on a pedestal as the definition of good music, and judge people who don't know about them or like them, make me roll my eyes.

Agreed.

I think Queen are fine but it's always kind of weird to me when people talk about them like the pinnacle of great music for all time. Not that they're wrong for liking Queen. It's just... it's so far from my feelings for them. It's like we're living in a different universe.

You know, I was all set to complain that how could anyone not like Queen, and then I read this and remembered how much flak I get for not liking Pink Floyd. Thank you anon

I was the right age for Queen but am pretty sure it just floated right by me, along with The Sex Pistols and Donna Summer. I was somewhat consciously oblivious.

Makes me a little sad because their music really resonates with me, but not all music affects people the same way.

I LOVE their music, and it's one of the first bands I got into (though Mercury was dead by then) - that being said, it's okay not to like things. There are these few epic bands that you're supposed to like - Queen, The Beatles, The Doors etc.

And thing is, you can appreciate craftsmanship, and even historical significance, without wanting to put it on your mp3-player.

I love their music and will happily listen to them whenever, but much like with every other artist they wont be for everyone.

Eh, it happens. I hate -and I mean loathe the Beatles, but I'm not about to say they weren't influential or noteworthy. For one, it's just not my genre, and two, major hype aversion.

It's so much more enjoyable to focus on what you do like than what you don't.

I love Queen so much, but there are plenty of famous bands whose music I don't get. So I get it, op. Like what you like.

If it makes you feel better, I not only dislike listening to Queen, but also Pink Floyd, The Doors and even The Misfits. I really get their influences on music and stuff, make no mistake, but...I don't enjoy listening to any of them.

Oh, that's OK, I think it's normal to be left cold by most Queen stuff.

I think the emotionality of "Under Pressure" mostly works, and the songs they did for Highlander have emotional heft, but I think Queen's writing usually tended to come off a little emotionally detached and kind of silly.

I love Queen, but I get it. I don't get Bob Dylan at all and I keep quiet about that because he sure is a big deal to a lot of people.

I'm so impressed by Bohemian Rhapsody for the same reason I'm impressed by Tron - the incredible amount of work that went into producing something that would have been crafted very differently with modern technology. Also, Brian May has a PhD in astrophysics. How cool is that?

Text: I admire them for their musicianship, stage craft and influence. Plus generally being awesome people. But I just can’t get into listening to their music no matter how many years I’ve tried. It just does nothing for me emotionally.

Don't feel bad Anon, I love Queen as fun music, and I love the childhood memories their music brings up, but the songs in and of themselves don't actually hit my feelings button. If I didn't have the existing connection, they'd just be fun pop rock to me.
