I'm actually okay that Firefly got canceled, if only because of what happened with Buffy and Angel - Kaylee would probably be evil or dead, Zoe would have left Wash for Simon, Badger would take over Serenity and leave Mal shipless... not to mention what I actually know was going to happen to Inara. I love Joss Whedon, but his stuff gets so dark and depressing for the sake of being dark and depressing imho. Having said that, I really do wish we'd gotten a second season to tie things up, at least.

AYRT - It's funny (not really funny) because in one of the scenes in Firefly, Shepherd Book mentions a Chinese... Emperor or something who believed in learning about people by driving them to the edge and seeing how they would react. Book wondered if that's what the Academy was trying to do to River. I wonder if that was what Joss was trying to do with his characters.

Same. After I heard what was going to happen to Inara I was perfectly fine with Firefly not getting a second season.
