Clara with the sonic screwdriver (from the episode “Flatline.”)

I think she would have made an absolutely wonderful Doctor. (With Peter Capaldi as her companion, a grumpy old soon-to-be-retired Headmaster from Coal Hill School.) Not that I don’t love Capaldi as the Doctor. It’s just a fun thing I like to think about. (Do I even have to explain why this is a secret?)

... I may have to write that.

Blech.

She was bad enough as a companion.

'Is'.

Sadly.

If you'd said this about Eleven-era Clara, I would have disagreed, but since Twelve... yeah, I can see this.

Possible Kill the Moon spoilers

Honestly, Kill the Moon was the episode that convinced me Clara had to go. The companion's role is the humanize the Doctor and stick up for Earth. But she's completely willing to throw Earth under the bus for a random alien baby.

I forgive that just because I think that episode was written by an idiot with an ax to grind. I think it was completely OOC.

I like it.

I'd watch it provided it was written by someone other than He Who Must Not Be Named.

Same. Props to OP for mentioning Ian and Barbara's school!

Well, that is one thing I'll give Moffat credit for. Clara is an English teacher at Coal Hill School.

shhhhh... thats gonna be the twist in the end!

What a twist!

(Anonymous) 2015-01-28 03:23 am (UTC)(link)
everyone was the Doctor all along

seriously, it's the perfect Moffat twist: it's exactly like an earlier plot twist (everyone was River all along) except way bigger and more wooooooah and stupider

YES. I loved the 'Clara is the Doctor' mini-theme they had going on. (And that their whole dynamic is that she's the strong but younger one whereas he's older but emotionally vulnerable which is a reverse of the usual man vs woman roles.)
