But what fandom are you in? Dragon Age? If so, wh no interest in playing it yourself? If not, what is your fandom that it can be sucked empty by one particular video game?

It's another video game fandom, so of course, it has a lot of gamers in it.

And Dragon Age just isn't my cup of tea. I tried playing the first game back when it came out and couldn't get into it.

There's really a simple solution.

Start playing Dragon Age.

Unfortunately, I just don't like Dragon Age. :(

Plus, if you don't own a console you're screwed anyway. Game crashes every 20-30 minutes on most PC configurations because they couldn't even make a game that doesn't fry video cards. And there's been no fix in over two months.

Heh. Wasn't in fandom, but sounds like when all my friends discovered Skyrim, or whenever one of their LARP conventions come up. For like a WEEK, it was tumbleweeds and dust devils!

Eh, the fandom seems to be imploding on itself so I think if you just hold out for a little bit, you'll be all right.

Give it some time yet, the dedicated players are still doing their "PLAY EVERY OPTION!" playthroughs (that is, they want to play every race available, in both genders, romance every romancable companion and play through every plot branch). That takes a dozen or more playthroughs of the game.

Some people are finding time between playing to write fic, but maybe if you're not in the DA fandom itself, you're not seeing it because they are currently writing DA fanfic while the inspiration is still hot.

-general activity in my fandom has gone down
-my writing has started being ignored
-a few prolific writers have dropped their fics
-fanartists have stopped drawing
-people I used to talk to regularly have gone silent

Everyone would rather play this game. it’s been two months, and still they don’t want to do anything else.

The secret: I’m starting to resent this game for ruining my fandom experience

SB: Rationally, I know that no one owes me a good fandom experience, and people should be able to do whatever they want. It just really sucks.
