59, and very glad that I have friends my own age in fandom, and friends in their 40s, 30s, and 20s. I don't know if any of my online friends are in their teens, but I'd be glad to see them as well. Occasionally I sit back and look at myself and wonder if I should think I'm weird to be three years from early retirement and involved in online fandom.

Then I remember I'd old enough not to give a fuck.

Yeah, I was honest about my age (55) with a fandom friend I was particularly close to (herself nearly 30). She got seriously weirded out and never acted the same with me again. *eyeroll*

I'm not apologetic about my age but I've learned to keep shtum about it.

All of you in this thread are an absolute inspiration to me, just saying.

At 35-going-on-36 I've been unbelievably insecure about whether or not I belong in fandom at all over the past couple of years. I've almost let judgments about my age drive me off entirely.

You amazing people just reminded me again what a dumb thing that is to worry about. So thank you.

well I can personally say that I think it's really cool that y'all are still hanging around fandom :) may I be as cool as you one day!
And tbh I think this is half the reason that I like f!s, 'cause it /doesn't/ skew teenager like my current fandom does.
