Re: Educate me about coffee!

Looks like an anon already explained the caffeine content, but in terms of them being the same, they...sort of are, but sort of aren't? Cappuccinos have a stronger espresso flavor to them, due to the fact that foam is less dense than steamed milk, and foam also has a different texture and taste from steamed milk (I've seen a lot of people actually eat their cappuccinos with a spoon). Upside down lattes and cappuccinos have a very strong espresso flavor compared to their "right-side-up" variants (and for reference on that front, caramel macchiatos are actually upside down vanilla lattes with caramel syrup on top. So, think of the espresso flavor from one of those, and then take away the sweetness).

(I didn't know I could still talk so much about coffee. Dayum.)

OP

this and your other post are terribly helpful, thank you! Since I never drink the stuff myself I was kind of going "But WHY does this one have to be superfoamy, doesn't that just mean less coffee?" It all tastes like burnt beans to me, alas, although it smells tremendous!

Lol, do you work at Starbucks, by any chance? My local coffee shops are real angsty about the fact that at Starbucks they apparently burn their beans on purpose. I wouldn't know because I just make mine at home, but if they're right, the "burnt beans" smell might be exactly that!
