Re: Naruto The Last-Byakugan Princess (spoilers)

This movie is chock full of Naruhina moments. There are two small Sasusaku momnents from Sakura's side**

Essentially the plot is related to the descendant(s) of Hamura. Hamura was the brother of the Sage of Six Paths. He went to the moon to protect the shell of the ten tails, which if you remember Madara stole/ended up reviving. Hamura is also the ancestor of the Hyuga clan.

The villain of this movie is an eyeless Bishonen who was part of the branch house (They have the same clan system of the Hyuga) Hamura eventually died and gave a 'Holy decree' to not end his brother's world. The branch house twisted this and said he totally wanted the opposite, so they destroyed the main house and plucked out all of their eyes to make an ultimate weapon-Something that could cause the moon to plummet/destroy Earth. All the Kages get together and talk about how they're going to stop it.

The movie starts with some flashbacks to a class scene where Iruka tells the class to write who they'd spend the rest of their lives with if they had one day left on Earth. Sakura wrote Sasuke, Naruto makes a scene because he had no one to write, and Hinata writes Naruto. Skip to Naruto being insanely popular with the ladies now that he's the village hero. He starts getting tons of gifts for this winter festival thing. Konohamaru ends up finding a scarf Kushina had knitted for Naruto before he died (Oookay) in his grandfather's attic. Naruto starts wearing it, Sakura encourages Hinata to give her scarf to Naruto/confess to him, Naruto acts like an idiot, Sakura calls him out for being an idiot with some fangirls. Hinata then runs away and Sakura runs after her.

Sakura pushes her to confess, but she goes home. She frets about doing it, but Hanabi teases her about being so indecisive. She does go over to Naruto's, but she sees he's wearing the scarf and thinks a girl gave it to him. He hears her stomach growling (She stopped eating when she started making the scarf) and offers her some cup ramen up at his apartment. She becomes depressed because she thinks he has a girlfriend and runs off. Naruto chases after her. She goes to the infamous Naruto swing and starts to cry on the scarf. Toneri shows up and tries to kidnap her, Naruto fights his thugs and saves her, but the scarf ends up getting torn/Hanabi gets kidnapped. Hinata, Naruto, Sakura, Sai, and Shikamaru go on a mission to save Hanabi/stop the moon from falling. (There was also a scene during the Hanabi kidnapping where Sai sees the thugs and chases after them)

They fly to a strange lake and end up getting caught in a genjutsu trap that puts the victim into a dream of their own memories. Hinata's memories merge with Naruto's and he sees a mix of his own and hers. Basically the most important ones, the class scene from before, the ointment scene, the I Love You scene, a bunch of memories of Naruto saying he loves ramen and Sakura telling Hinata he doesn't understand the difference between love and romantic love. He sees Hinata wrote his name down, and the memories repeat until he sees Sakura telling Hinata to just confess and he sees Hinata standing in the street telling him she loves him. Then Sakura wakes him up and he starts acting weird around Hinata.

Sai, Sakura, and Shikamaru get attacked by a..genjutsu using crab...and Hinata gets jumped by Toneri who asks him to marry her and tells her about his plans. Naruto shows up and attacks Toneri and it turns out he was just a puppet and the real one is somewhere else. Naruto tells Hinata he'll never let her out of his sight again and they all end up at this abandoned city of sorts. Hinata and Naruto spend time together, he gives her water, they search together, he gets closer to her and notices she's knitting the scarf (Which he now knows is for him) The end up finding a hidden door where some eyeless main branch guy comes out and shows Hinata a vision and then calls her the Byakugan Princess, the only one who can stop the weapon from being used (Basically it also sucks out anyone with chakra that isn't a descendent of Hamura, thus she's immune)

Hinata realizes that she has to save the world/her sister by finding this weapon. She keeps it to herself and then Naruto ends up clumsily confessing that he's in love with her. Right after Toneri shows up and Hinata gives him the scarf/tells him goodbye, as she needed to trick Toneri so she could find the weapon. Naruto ends up not taking this lightly, attacks Toneri and gets his chakra completely drained (Which can kill you in Narutoland) Sakura heals him with her chakra and gets weakened and has to rest, he remains unconscious for three days while constantly moaming Hinata in his sleep (And apparently other things that aren't mentioned, Sai teases him about being mushy) Naruto gets depressed and Shikamaru brings him to Sakura, who is laying in a bed exhausted. Here's where the Narusaku shippers lose their collective fish cakes.

Sakura tells Naruto that he never actually loved her, he only said he liked her because of his rivalry with Sasuke, the man she loves. But the love he felt for Hinata was finally real and that there was no way Hinata didn't still love Naruto, because once a woman truly loves a man she basically can never change. She then thinks of Sasuke and says she knows exactly how Hinata feels. Naruto gets recharged and makes this corny speech to Hinata about how 'You'll loved this idiot for so long, but now this idiot finally understands. But now this idiot is going to tell you something as a man, wait for me' and promises to save her. Meanwhile it's revealed Toneri stole Hanabi's eyes (Horrifying, she's laying on a bed with hre face wrapped up) His eyes will eventually transform into a 'pure tenwhatever' the eye thing that is already controlling the moon. He says Hinata will marry him and he's essentially off his rocker by living his life alone, since his father died when he was young and all the other "people" around him are just puppets.

He tells Hinata to knit him a scarf and she agrees. He starts getting eye pain and goes off to his room to rest, which is when Hinata searches for the weapon so she can destroy it. She eventually finds it, doesn't get a chance to destroy it, he says she betrayed him and puts his chakra into her, essentially brainwashing her. (He also destroys the scarf) Naruto and the gang show up, Naruto fights his way to Hinata during their wedding. Toneri makes Hinata fight Naruto, he takes the chakra out and wakes her up. Toneri goes into spasms because of his eye and they all flee with Hanabi. Sakura gives Hinata the piece of torn scarf and Naruto asks for it, because he knows it was for him. She does, they go and destroy the weapon with combined chakra. (Basically a Naruto style Twin Lion Fists/they hold handss) Turns out the weapon just explodes into eyeballs, yeah fun.

Oh, there's also this thing the Raikage is doing with a 'chakra canon' and he plans to blow up the moon. Kakashi stops him because Naruto and co are on it at the moment and he only gives them an hour to defeat Toneri before he uses the damn thing. (Bee objects to firing it after he learns Naruto is on it) Toneri goes crazy, kidnaps Hinata again, Naruto makes a speech about how he can't let it end before he has time to build feelings with Hinata (lol) He kicks his ass, Hinata is released and takes Hanabi's eyes out of Toneri's head. Toneri then goes crazy, again, and becomes a freakish eye monster with all the other eyes from the destroyed weapon. He gets flung into the air and starts being consumed because the eyes absorb the energy from the sun and his chakra levels can't handle it. Naruto saves him, he apologizes and stays on the moon. (Oh, there was also a thing about Kurama helping them fight and Naruto having him write something on the moon so they know they won. Yeah)

It ends with Naruto and Hinata running together out of the genjutsu lake with all their memories floating around them. Naruto tells Hinata about the 'who would you want to be with' assignment and says he finally knows who to write now, and says he wants to be with Hinata for the rest of his life/until the day he dies. Hinata cries, they get out of the lake and Naruto shoots them up into the sky where they kiss in front of the moon. The credits are Hinata and Naruto's wedding and there's a prologue scene with Naruto and Hinata as married adults, Himawari and Boruto run in and jump Naruto as he's training outside, Naruto tells them they can have a snowball fight, Boruto throws a snowball at Hinata and Hinata joins in. It closes on a photo album of married Naruto/Hinata and baby pictures and Naruto saying to becareful because their mother is really strong.

**There is a scene in the beginning where Hinata asks Sakura why she's helping her and Sakura thinks about Sasuke and says they have to stick together.

Omg. I ship Naru/Hina and that sounds horrible. This is why I don't like my ships becoming canon. Their getting together is nothing like how I'd pictured, this summary sounds like cheezy bad-fic.

To each their own of course! As a Naruhina shipper myself, I loved it. I can see Naruto being that dense, and well, it only took him this long to realize it because Kishimoto demanded Naruto be an adult before he got into a relationship. (He's...really weird when it comes to romance. I think he has a kind of aversion to it, the way he talks about being uncomfortable writing it, etc)

Hahahaha same as anon up there, I ship NaruHina but this is like reading a fic. The staff must had a blast with this.

Thanks for the spoilers, anon!

You're welcome! Well, Kishimoto has issues with romance. He basically stated in an interview he was never interested in writing how they happened, he just was going to put them together and get Boruto (No NS, that doesn't mean he planned NS until the evil SP made him change it. It was ALWAYS Naruhina) SP suggested the movie fill in the blank, and voila, The Last. He made them change some stuff/added some stuff (His idea for the scarf, got it from his wife giving him one when they were dating, the age gap was his idea, he created the villain, the designs, etc)

Am I the only one that sees the SasuSaku as kind of...not working here?

And the comment about not changing ever...ugh.

Well, Kishimoto said he thought Sakura look like a 'terrible person' if she switched from Sasuke to Naruto at the end, and that she'd always been about Sasuke lol Japanese NS fans call Sasusaku very 'Japanese', and a bunch said they liked NS because it was 'very Western"

You'll get more SasuSaku stuff in the Boruto movie/miniseries. Also, one of the oneshot chapters in the final volume is rumored to be about how Sasuke and Sakura got together, for the Sasuke fanbook lol.

Eugh, no thanks. I will just continue to view any and all things past the second to last chapter as nothing but fanon and not actual canon. I keep my sanity that way.

Wow...I am so glad you summarized it here so that I don't have to waste time or money watching this (no point watching a Naruto movie without Neji in it /forever salty about that).

I've long stopped caring much for Naruto, but your enthusiasm for the series is really endearing. You're the best, naruto!anon.

Haha, thanks, but I'm honestly only in it for the shipping. I made a summary because a few people asked me back in November to do it once The Last was out. :p
