(Anonymous) 2015-01-28 09:33 am (UTC)(link)Yeah, and if we really want to do some fandom archaeology, that infrastructure was built on the backbone of bbs and newsgroups that were functional under early TCP/IP for a good 10+ years previous to the world wide web as we know it, and there were probably even smaller enclaves on the ARPANET prior to that, because geeks are nothing if not passionate about our interests.
Which really can be summed up as "guys, you know fandom comes from older fans, right?"
