As a unit, do you compromise well? Are your conversations engaging and interesting? Does he cause you to learn more about yourself and vice versa?

Love is a chemical reaction... it doesn't last forever. Attachment and shared values and interests on the other hand, do. If all of the above is true, then maybe it's worth fighting for. If none of the above are true and all you know is that you're in love with him right now...

...I would say in that case the prognosis probably isn't so good. Love alone probably won't be enough to sustain a relationship for the long haul.
