Fantastic Four Trailer

Related to my stream this week (Blatant advertisement!) Fantastic Four Trailer is out:

Thoughts? Based on everything I've heard, my faith remains low. Also if they are going to make Johnny a black guy, and their dad Mr. Storm a black guy, I'm not sure why Sue is still a white blond. I mean I know why in universe, she's adopted, but it just seems an odd dymanic to add. I guess the fantastic four has always been people who came together as a family and the origins of that family being irrelevant could be part of the message here, but again, I doubt this movie has the faith to pull it off.

It just looks really, really boring to me. I get they were going for epic, but it just looks silly. And maybe it is because of the previous F4 movies or maybe the MCU has spoiled me. But not here for this.

It was funny how misleading of a trailer it was (basically Fantastic Four: Interstellar).

That said, it actually made me kind of hopeful? It probably helps that my expectations started out pretty low. But it didn't look actively bad and it reminded me that I like a lot of the actors in it. So in that sense it was good.

Man, I really hope not. Because they do have such good actors. And also because the Fantastic Four deserves better, and especially Doom deserves better.

Seriously, you have the best comic book villain of all time. How can you screw that up?

Enh, keeping my hopes low, but I'm interested. I'm willing to wait and see. And I'm actually kinda curious about how they play the blended/adopted family dynamic. Not high hopes, but if they DID do it well, that'd be something I'd be really interested in seeing.

Jamie Bell was the only exciting thing about this for me, and he probably has twenty seconds of screen time before he's replaced by a gurgling rock monster.

I didn't care much one way or another about the first movies (I thought they were kinda cheesy and silly, plus FF has never been on my radar), so this doesn't really interest me.

Why do they *have* to keep rebooting this? Can't we have *new* movies?

I think they do *have* to reboot FF (and Spiderman) or the studio loses the rights to them.

They don't have to reboot them, they just have to make more movies. The problem is they have no idea what they are fucking doing with the characters, so they keep rebooting hoping to get it right "This" time.

The trailer looks sort of...meh to me.

The adoption thing just seems so weird to me, too. I mean, make them both black or mixed then, if you're going for that. Or make Reed Richard black. But this just seems so forced.

Idk I didn't mind it? I was mostly worried that Sue and Johnny weren't going to be siblings at all but I'm cool with adopted siblings(honestly they should have just made them both black but well, Hollywood). I'll probably go see it regardless, I like superhero movies, even the kind of terrible ones.

It looks boring. They are trying to go for epic and making it look boring instead. But I'll keep my judgement until the movie or the leaks comes out.

On the one hand, I was never that big of a Fantastic 4 fan, so interest has always been rather low.

On the other hand, I really like the actors that make up the main cast. I also really liked "Chronicle" which the director of Fantastic 4 had made (and *squee* Michael B. Jordan).

So I'm not THAT interested in it, and chances are I won't see it in theatres but I might watch it when it comes on cable next year or whatever. I might go watch it in theatres if the reviews are off the charts positive.

Ehh. I'm getting a bit tired of origin stories. They all start sounding samey after a while.
Nothing here really jumped out at me as being very different or special.

This ist he problem with Fox and Sony's constant rebooting. Origin story is good for probably once every 20 years. Way too song.

I'd be happy if they let Sue be sensible and competent without making her boring. Also, if Johnny still gets to be kind of a jackass, and Reed actually passes as a genius who is book smart/people dumb, and Ben doesn't spend all his time hovering between comic relief and pathetic. Also, I'd like world peace and a unicorn.
