UGH. In late summer of 2013, my mom ordered some bird seed for the wild birds in our yard. This is a normal thing. We keep the seed in big tupperware tubs under the counter. BUT. This time, the seed contained the larvae or eggs of PANTRY MOTHS. Within a week, we were starting to get moths flying around our house. It got bad. We cleared out the tubs, but they were in our pantry by then. We chucked a whole lot of contaminated food around Thanksgiving 2013, and that helped a lot.

But they've been coming back every so often ever since, and it's starting to get kinda bad again. I AM NOT HAPPY ABOUT THIS SHIT. Uuuuuuuuugh.

Wow that sounds annoying. Weevils are a bit of a problem here. We've had them in the cupboards before.

Obligatory: WTF is a pantry? Ohhh. You mean a cupboard.

Ugh, I've had moths too, though my moth infestation came from small animal feed rather than birdseed. I remember sitting in my house one evening thinking "Wow, there's a lot of moths in here, I wonder where they're coming fr--OHSHIT!" One of the feed containers was literally black with moths. I was terrified of dropping it in case they all swarmed into my face.

Once I got rid of the source though, I didn't really have any issues after that. Is it possible some of the larvae managed to infest somewhere other than the birdseed tubs? I remember the larvae was spread over a pretty wide area, considering how small they (and the original infested location) were, and it took longer to get rid of them than the fully hatched moths.

Yeah, the original seed is long gone and that area thoroughly cleaned. They get into our pantry (yes, that's food-storage-cupboard to some of you) and lay eggs in anything that's not sealed real good-- cookies, rice, and breadcrumbs are the biggest offenders, but we've also gotten them in flour, spices (what the fuck do moths want with my chili powder, aaaahh?!!), corn starch, etc.
