While I agree the second group can be hella annoying, there are also instances where it's kind of true? Hello HIMYM ending?
It really depends on more than one thing and is not black and white.

(For example, I always shipped the ships named in the secret and I would have enjoyed them more than the endgame couples, but it was really weird to me to meet the fandom (as a non-English speaking person I was late) and suddenly I'm crazy and delusional for it?)

With HIMYM, though, it was less about breaking up an OTP and more about ending with the one pairing out of millions of possible pairings in the world that totally fucked up everyone's character development.

Also, you can ship H/Hr and Zuko/Katara without being a Harmonian or a Zutaran. Those terms really refer to a specific group of shippers more than a specific ship. It's kind of like how you can like Snape as a character without actually being married to him on the astral plane.
