I collect books from countries I've visited in that country's language. Usually nothing fancy more like a children's book or a strip comic, I'm trying to aim for books that you could still understand with only a rudimentary knowledge of the language.

I've got several English books from the UK, a french novel that started the collection because I just couldn't help myself in the used book store in Paris, a Dutch Garfield strip collection and a Swedish edition of "Winnie the Pooh".

I'm missing Hungary because I only started my collection after my last holiday there.

It's funny you mention that, because that's how the Harry Potter collection started out. I was studying Spanish and Japanese so I bought those books. Then when I was traveling through Europe, I'd spend a bit of time to find a bookstore to pick up Harry Potter in the local language.

It also is interesting to see which countries use the American covers, the British covers, or use their own original covers.

Ohh you should see the new Norwegian covers for the HP books they are so cool!

Edit: I should also add, collecting HP books in different languages is a really cool thing to do.

It seems like everyone is releasing new covers, it's insane. I'm never going to be able to keep up.

Do you have links to see the old and new? (I would love Norwegian ones, I just haven't made it to Norway yet....one of these days)

Yes they are.

The old ones are the British covers, if I remember correctly. I have the hardback versions but the cover part thing have been taken off over the years so they are just red.

The news ones, I can't find on google, but I should have a picture somewhere on my Mac of them, which I can't find. (talking about collections, good grief I have a lot of files on my Mac). But the spine of all seven books completes Hogwarts, they are blueish and the rest of the cover also have the same theme if I remember correctly.

That sounds like the new American ones. The front cover is a scene from each of the books but when you put all seven together they form Hogwarts. I think they're super pretty.

Now I'll have to google them to see.
