That's a sweet thing to do. I have random change from several of the countries I've visited, but it's not much.

And as long as your collection doesn't get too big, it is fairly easy to transport. My problem would be that I'd have everything organized by country and then it would take up more space.

Oh yeah, no, ha, it's just all thrown into the jar. Every once in a while, we'll pour them out on the floor and have fun arranging them by country, but that's not its natural state. The fun isn't the organizing, it's remembering the circumstances each coin came from. It's not half as fun if someone just gives us a ton of coins, it has to have a story behind it.

...honestly I ought to find a new jar for it, the current one's getting a bit banged up and the top is bound to pop off it sooner or later.

It's nice that there's such a history behind it, makes the collection that much more memorable. It's the same way with my spoons because I buy them when I travel places.

Yeah, and as far as collections go, you can't do much better than money for something durable, packable, and possibly useful.

(Well, okay, all the francs and lira and kroner all pretty much useless, but still!)
