17. This is one of the most pretentious things to grace F!S. I like a long list of "noise" bands, and to disregard Sonic Youth's noise tracks is fucking stupid. People are allowed to like what they want.

I liked it. She's much more intelligent in that movie than Juno's mature-but-spunky-teenager persona.

Oh WORD.

Frankly, I like SY's noisy stuff a lot more than their Nirvana-wanna-be grungepop phase. It's a lot more raw and real, and I happen to like aggressive, dissonant fucked-up shit. SY is pretty pop compared to a lot of stuff I like--real Japanese noise, black metal, avant-garde jazz stuff. But I do love some of their poppy songs, like "Starpower."

Then again, I like Loreena McKennitt too, so bite me, taste police.

I came up in the 80s metal and punk scenes and one thing we all knew was that a sure sign of a poser was someone who got off on calling other people "poser" a little too much.
