13. when I read Death Note, I thought Mello was a girl for a few chapters.
after I saw him referred to as "he" a few times, I decided, "oh holy shit, it actually IS a man D:"
it made me sad
I liked him better when I thought he was female hahahah

it drove me nuts because usually when characters that look female but are male appear I'm at least NOT SURE, but with Mello there was no doubt in my mind that he was female, until it was proven otherwise

13. I'm worse than that. I believed he was a girl for ages because even though Light and whoever called him he, I was like, "they're just assuming". Only when Near called him 'he' did I cotton on, and I was very sad.

"canon", here, refers to the fictional universe of the shows.
jon stewart and stephen colbert are real people, but the daily show is not a serious news show, nor is colbert actually a conservative blowhard.
