Eh, when all plot related narrative is just a set up to sex and doesn't go anywhere otherwise.

Sometimes I'll throw in character development or little bits of backstory for interest and to set up an emotional tone for whatever fucking is about to take place, but it's all done in the interest of creating an effective and arousing sex scene.

Sex scenes in narrative driven works are the other way around: they're there to add to the overall story and illustrate something else, not just be a wank break.
