new neighbors

So my new neighbors are finally moving in and I have no idea how to feel about this. I was so young the last time got new neighbors that didn't really bother me, but now I just hope they kind of just keep to themselves and don't cause any trouble.

At this point, if they tried to pull any trouble with us we know most of the cops in town so it's a moot point on that side of things, but still.

I feel super territorial right now.

You're right. I'm just concerned because we had problems with neighbors in the past. I really hope they are nice.

Is there a reason you are this worried? Bad previous experiences or do you share facilities? Because most people aren't total shitheads so you will probably be ok.

We had problems with neighbors who didn't talk to us in the past. On our street, it's our two houses, then some woods/wetlands and then the rest of the street. Our yards aren't separated by a fence, so we share yards if you will. Both properties are just under an acre so we have a decent amount of yard.

It's understandable that you feel this way then. Just try to remember that they aren't your last neighbours so with a bit of luck they will be different. And if you go in on the attack straight away you might unnecessarily escalate the situation.

We were super friendly with the people who lived there before (and they had lived there a long time) so it's a big adjustment.

oh, see, i don't ever befriend neighbors so it's foreign to see people worried about neighbors not being friendly. i don't do it to be mean or rude or anything, it's just that when i was growing up i saw a bunch of neighborhood messiness and have kept to myself as an adult to avoid all that, lol.

There's no fence or any sort of divider at all between our yard and their yard. It wasn't a problem in the past because the dads took turns mowing the lawns.

Again it's just us and them and we're super close and my bedroom is the closest one to their house so I'm worried about them being wild party people too.
