I have no shame so spork away. Only songfic I've ever written and the only story in first person. In my defence (HA!), the story wouldn't leave my brain after I heard the song on an oldies radio station.

Aww, this fic fit the mood of the song really well, and had some lines in the story that called back to the lyrics. I'd say that's a pretty good example of Doing Songfics Right.

Not one of my fandoms, but that was a cute fic.

It's a song about being completely captivated/awed by someone, and having your world changed by being with them. Feelings you've never had before, really shaking up the whole foundation of your existence. And you put that across in the story very well, I thought. :)

...And from a meta perspective, it was literally world-changing 'cause Boromir got seduced by Aragorn instead of by the Ring! \o/

(Of course it also helps that you wrote a nearly-10k-word story with only 3 short verses of song in it... lotta crappy songfics only have a short paragraph or two of story per verse of song.)

What a lovely thing to hear! From what I remember (I wrote the story back in 2002, I think), I wanted Boromir to feel his world had shifted and nothing would ever be the same again.

I'd never even heard of songfic when I wrote it. I only learned that's what it was when I got an email about the story. LoM didn't have a comment system way back then. The only feedback we ever received was through email. Times have changed!
