In terms of the DAKM, I'm pretty sure the balance is because people like fic with their Warden/Hawke/Inquisitor, and most of the people requesting fic are women who play female PCs. So it's less het obsession and more that a few ships (Alistair/F!Warden for Origins, Anders-Fenris/F!Hawke for DA2, and Cullen-Solas/F!Inquisitor for Inquisition) are really, really prominent. Although actually I think the ratio of het to slash is a bit different for DA2, with Fenders and all.

I feel you so hard on the M/f thing though. People always rally around the Subwall/sub!Cullen/etc prompts, but the same old dom!M/sub!F prompts are the ones that actually get filled. Goddammit, I just want some femdom. ;n; The eternal struggle.

Yeah, I agree with you about that. I play female and male PCs but I've discovered recently that I just end up far more attached to the female ones, so I end up shipping f!Hawke/Anders significantly more than m!Hawke/Anders, just because I like f!Hawke more.
