Are song-fics still a thing? I feel like I haven't seen one since the mid-2000s? (Then again, I'm really only reading smut these days, so maybe it's still a thing with gen fics.)

The last gloriously awful songfic I stumbled across featured "Hoedown Throwdown", with every last "boom de clap" repeated in all its poetic majesty. I couldn't remember the fandom (only that it was supposedly being sung by a Japanese person, in Japan. Where I'm sure Hannah Montana was a great success). This secret set me searching Google to see if I could track it down... but it seems that dozens of fics in the Pit alone have featured this song over the past ~5 years.

(So yeah, songfics did not die with the mid-00s. Unfortunately.)
